The Here We Go Again Tour [ane] was the seventh solo concert bout by American singer-actress Cher in support of her xx-6th studio album Dancing Queen. This was the get-go time the singer had embarked on a world tour since her Living Proof: The Cheerio Tour (2002–2005). The bout started on September 21, 2018, and was forced to conclude on March ten, 2020 due to the COVID-nineteen pandemic.[2] [3] [4] [5]
Background [edit]
On May 7, 2018, it was announced via various media outlets that Cher would commence on her first Australian solo bout for more than a decade and her seventh solo concert bout overall.[6] On May 17, 2018, it was announced that Cher would add together 2 more dates in Melbourne and Sydney due to "overwhelming demand".[three] On June 27, 2018, information technology was announced that Cher volition visit New Zealand for a concert before continuing the tour in Australia. A second concert in New Zealand was appear shortly after.[seven] [8] On September iii, 2018, information technology was announced that Cher would "good day Melbourne" for a "third and final testify" on Oct 6, 2018, due to high demand.[9] [x] Later that same week, information technology was appear that Cher will take the Here We Get Again Tour to North America for 34 dates. The second leg of the tour started on Jan 17, 2019 in Florida and ended on May xxx, 2019, in Vancouver.[4]
On December 11, 2018, it was announced that Cher would bout Europe for the showtime time in 15 years. The European leg of the tour started on September 26, 2019 in Berlin, Germany and finished on November 3, 2019 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Following this, Cher announced new bout dates in North America, beginning in Portland, Oregon on November 19, 2019.[11] [12] On March 12, 2020, Cher appear her spring bout dates would exist postponed to the fall, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with the exception of Birmingham, Alabama, which was cancelled, due to planned renovations at the Legacy Arena during the rescheduled run.[13] [14] Nevertheless, due to the persistence of the pandemic in the U.s.a., the rescheduled dates were all canceled.[15]
Concert synopsis [edit]
A giant curtain is set up where, during the beginning of the concert, a video montage featuring many moments of Cher's career is projected onto it. After the intro ends and the drapery drops, Cher appears wearing a royal toga and a bluish wig, while standing on a bedazzled arched lift performing "Adult female's Globe". The song is followed by "Potent Enough" and a 15-minute [xvi] long on stage monologue where she infamously asks the crowd "what'south your granny doing this evening?" [17] [18] She leaves for a costume change, while the "Gayatri Mantra" is played. She returns on a mechanical elephant lip syncing the last part, and then she gets off the elephant and she performs "All or Nothing".[19] The next act is started with a video interlude of Cher and her late ex-husband, Sonny Bono, singing a medley of "Lilliputian Man" and "All I E'er Need is Y'all". She starts performing "The Beat Goes On" followed by a brief oral communication where Cher talks about how she rarely performs the vocal "I Got Yous Babe" alive with Bono joining her via a large-screen video monitor.[20] A video interlude of Cher performing "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" follows and the next act starts with her dancers performing a Burlesque-inspired trip the light fantastic toe routine. Finally, Cher enters the stage in a Burlesque inspired outfit and sings "Welcome to Caricatural", followed by a costume change, with "Lie to Me" acrobatic interlude. She and her dancers reappear in 70'southward inspired clothes every bit she sings covers of ABBA'southward "Waterloo" and "SOS". Cher and then goes to an elevated platform and sings "Fernando", accompanied by a backdrop of fireworks.[21]
Afterwards a video montage of her career highlights as an actress, the next human activity sees Cher performing "After All". An interlude of "Heartbreak Hotel" plays as Cher changes costumes and sings "Walking In Memphis", which she dedicated to the start time she saw Elvis in concert. "The Shoop Shoop Vocal (It's in His Osculation)" ends the human activity, and a guitar solo of "Blindside Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" plays every bit a final pause. Cher, in a black see-through bodysuit, appears to close the chief gear up with performances of "I Institute Someone" and "If I Could Plough Back Time". Critical reception [edit]
The bout has received mostly positive reception from critics, praising Cher's vocals also as the elements of the show and the costume changes.[24] [25] The European leg of the tour gained critical acclaim praising Cher's free energy, performances, and humor.[26] The tour was nominated for a People's Pick Award in the "Favorite Concert Bout of 2019" category.[27]
